Abita Root Beer Baked Beans

- 6 ounce Abita root beer
- 1 pound bacon (diced)
- 1 cup diced onions
- ½ cup diced celery
- ¼ cup diced green bell peppers
- ¼ cup minced garlic
- ¼ cup barbecue sauce
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
Instructions

- 2 12-ounce cans baked beans drained
- salt, to taste
- cracked black pepper, to taste
- granulated garlic, to taste
- 1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
- 2. In a Dutch oven, cook bacon over medium heat until bacon is crisp and fat is rendered.
- 3. Remove bacon, drain on paper towels, and set aside. Add onions, celery, bell pepper, and garlic to pan drippings and sauté 3 to 5 minutes or until translucent.
- 5. Bake, uncovered, for 25 minutes. Remove from oven, adjust seasoning using salt, pepper, and granulated garlic, and serve hot.
- If the beans are still too thin for your liking, keep baking until desired thickness.
Tips
Always preheat your oven and check for doneness a few minutes before the suggested baking time.
