A sweet and tangy BBQ sauce featuring apple juice or cider as the base, balanced with molasses, vinegar, and spices.

- 0.25 cup Butter
- 0.5 whole Onion, medium , minced
- 1.5 cups Apple juice or cider
- 1 tablespoon Dark molasses
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Tomato paste
- 0.5 teaspoon Chili powder
- 0.5 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the minced onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the remaining ingredients (apple juice/cider, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, tomato paste, chili powder, cinnamon, salt) to the saucepan.
- Stir well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
- Cook, uncovered, for about 30 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
- Serve warm.
Tips
This sauce pairs well with pork or chicken. For a smoother sauce, you can blend it carefully with an immersion blender after cooking.
