A sweet and spicy Asian-inspired wing sauce with a perfect balance of heat from chili garlic sauce and sweetness from corn syrup and sugar. Ideal for wings or as a stir-fry sauce.

Ingredients

Scale: 1x
  • 4 teaspoons rice wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup chili garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in rice wine vinegar, stirring until smooth.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the remaining ingredients.
  3. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan and stir well to combine.
  4. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it comes to a boil.
  5. Continue to cook and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and allow to cool before using.
  7. Refrigerate in an airtight container if not using immediately.

Tips

For a less sweet sauce, you can reduce the amount of corn syrup and sugar. For extra heat, add a teaspoon of sriracha or your favorite hot sauce. This versatile sauce works great not only for wings but also as a glaze for grilled chicken or as a sauce for stir-fries. For best results when coating wings, toss the sauce with freshly fried or baked wings while they're still hot.
