A sweet and spicy Asian-inspired wing sauce with a perfect balance of heat from chili garlic sauce and sweetness from corn syrup and sugar. Ideal for wings or as a stir-fry sauce.

- 4 teaspoons rice wine vinegar
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup chili garlic sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in rice wine vinegar, stirring until smooth.
- In a small saucepan, combine the remaining ingredients.
- Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan and stir well to combine.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it comes to a boil.
- Continue to cook and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool before using.
- Refrigerate in an airtight container if not using immediately.
Tips
For a less sweet sauce, you can reduce the amount of corn syrup and sugar. For extra heat, add a teaspoon of sriracha or your favorite hot sauce. This versatile sauce works great not only for wings but also as a glaze for grilled chicken or as a sauce for stir-fries. For best results when coating wings, toss the sauce with freshly fried or baked wings while they're still hot.
