- 0.5 cup BBQ sauce (Your favorite kind)
- 1 whole Onion, small , chopped
- 1 tablespoon Mustard (Yellow or Dijon)
- 2 tablespoons Brown sugar, packed
- 3 strips Bacon , cooked crisp, chopped
Instructions
- Ensure bacon is cooked crisp and chopped.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the canned baked beans (undrained), BBQ sauce, chopped onion, mustard, brown sugar, and chopped cooked bacon.
- Stir everything together well.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let the beans simmer gently for 1 hour, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Serve hot.
Tips
Using a smoky BBQ sauce complements the bacon well. For a thicker sauce, you can simmer uncovered for the last 15-20 minutes.
