Drunken Mustard Sauce
35 mins
Serves 8
A tangy and slightly sweet mustard sauce with a kick from brandy and crushed red pepper.
Ingredients
Scale:
1x
- 1 cup Dijon mustard
- 0.5 cup Balsamic vinegar, white
- 0.25 cup Brandy
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Red pepper, crushed
- 1 tablespoon Black pepper
- 0.25 cup Honey
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, bring the brandy to a simmer over medium heat.
- Reduce the brandy by half, about 5 minutes.
- Add the Dijon mustard, white balsamic vinegar, butter, lemon juice, crushed red pepper, and black pepper to the saucepan.
- Stir to combine.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool completely.
- Once cooled, stir in the honey until well combined.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Tips
White balsamic vinegar is preferred for its milder flavor and lighter color compared to regular balsamic. If unavailable, white wine vinegar could be substituted, potentially adjusting sweetness. Be careful not to over-reduce the brandy.
