Emeril's Chocolate Banana Jazz Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 envelop Gelatin
  • ¼ cup Water (cold)
  • 6 ounce Semi-sweet chocolate
  • cup Whipping cream
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 tablespoon Cocoa powder (unsweetened Dutch)
  • cup Graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup Butter or margarine (melted)
  • ½ cup Cocoa powder (unsweetened Dutch)
  • ½ cup Sugar

Instructions

  1. Add mixture to blender, blend for 2 minutes. Pour into bowl and chill for 1 hour.
  2. Beat remaining cream until stiff.
  3. Fold in chocolate mixture.
  4. Press into 9" pie pan and bake at 375 for 8 minutes, let cool.
  5. Complete pie by alternating chocolate and bananas, ending with a layer of the chocolate mixture.
  6. The pie may seem fragile at this point, but it will thicken as it cools.
  7. Serve with whipped cream and banana garnish.
  8. Alternative fruit: Use raspberries in place of the bananas.

Tips

Make sure all dairy ingredients are well-chilled for best results. Use fresh, ripe fruit for the best flavor. Press the graham cracker crust firmly into the pan for better stability. Always preheat your oven and check for doneness a few minutes before the suggested baking time.
