A vibrant and fresh salsa made with Roma tomatoes, spicy peppers, cilantro, lime, and classic seasonings.

  • 5 whole Roma Tomatoes , roughly chopped
  • 2 whole Jalapeno pepper , stemmed, roughly chopped (seeded for less heat)
  • 3 whole Serrano chiles , stemmed, roughly chopped (seeded for less heat)
  • 1 whole Onion, small , roughly chopped
  • 8 whole Black olives, pitted , roughly chopped
  • 0.25 cup Cilantro leaves , loosely packed
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice, fresh
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • Tortilla chips (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Roughly chop the Roma tomatoes, jalapenos (remove stems, seed if desired), serrano chiles (remove stems, seed if desired), onion, and black olives.
  2. Combine all ingredients (tomatoes, jalapenos, serranos, onion, olives, cilantro, lime juice, salt, sugar, cumin, garlic powder) in a food processor or a hand-cranked salsa maker.
  3. Pulse several times until the ingredients are chopped and combined to your desired consistency. Avoid over-processing; aim for a slightly chunky texture.
  4. Transfer the salsa to a bowl.
  5. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary (more salt, lime, or heat).
  6. For best flavor, cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Serve with tortilla chips.

Tips

Using a hand-cranked salsa maker can provide better texture control than a food processor. Adjust the number and type of peppers to control the spice level.
